Yukon YNP 2026Intake windows and the employer route

The Yukon Nominee Program inverts the usual model: the employer, not the worker, is the applicant. Yukon employers submit expressions of interest during two narrow windows — January 19–30 and July 6–17 in 2026 — and the territory scores the employers against its priorities, invites the highest-ranked, and holds them to hard application deadlines of March 4 and August 26. If you are a worker, your entire strategy is finding a Yukon employer willing to run this process; there is no pool to join on your own.

Program status

Yukon does run a ranked selection, but only twice a year and only through employers. Employers submit an Expression of Interest during one of two intake windows, EOIs are scored against the published 2026 priorities, and the highest-ranking submissions receive a Letter of Invitation to apply. IRCC allocated a maximum of 282 nominations for 2026 and Yukon states it expects significantly more applications than spaces.

What to watch next

Yukon runs two employer intake windows a year - January 19-30 and July 6-17 in 2026; both have now closed. After each window the highest-ranked employers receive invitations, attend an information session and file full applications on a deadline set by the program, all within about six weeks. Nothing submitted before a window carries over - a fresh EOI is required.

Yukon in 2026: the picture.

The scale is intimate: 282 nominations for 2026, up 67 from the federal-cut year of 2025 but still below the 430 of 2024. The Yukon Community Pilot — the stream that tied workers to six specific communities — sunsetted on June 30, 2025 and was not renewed, leaving the core Skilled Worker, Critical Impact Worker and Express Entry streams plus a small business route. Nomination also comes with a distinctive obligation: a tri-partite agreement signed by government, employer and nominee, with the federal PR application due within six months.

  1. Stream 01

    Skilled Worker

    TEER 0–3 occupations with a full-time Yukon job offer and 12 months of relevant experience.

  2. Stream 02

    Critical Impact Worker

    The territory's distinctive TEER 4–5 stream — six months of experience and CLB 4 open the door for the service and hospitality workers Yukon actually runs on.

  3. Stream 03

    Express Entry

    For candidates in the federal pool (FSW, CEC, FST) with Yukon employer backing — adds the 600-point nomination.

  4. Stream 04

    Business Nominee

    A small entrepreneur route; note the banned-business list, from sub-10-room B&Bs to taxi companies and home-based businesses.

  5. Stream 05

    Yukon Community Pilot

    Closed. Ended on schedule June 30, 2025 after nominating 42 people across six communities; its successor concept was wound down too.

What matters: where Yukon selection actually turns

    The employer applies, not you

    Workers cannot enter the YNP pool. The employer files the EOI, documents failed Canadian recruitment, and signs the tri-partite agreement alongside you.

  2. 02

    Two windows, four weeks total

    Miss January 19–30 and July 6–17 and 2026 is over — there is no rolling intake.

  3. 03

    Free at the territorial stage

    Yukon publishes no nomination application fee — rare in Canada. Federal PR fees (about $1,590 for a principal applicant) still apply.

  4. 04

    Rural and health weighting

    The 2026 grid favours regulated health professionals, rural-Yukon employers, one-year Yukon residents, Yukon University graduates and Francophones — plus carry-over bonus points for employers rejected in 2025.

A YNP nomination adds 600 CRS points.

Through the Express Entry stream, an enhanced nomination lifts your Comprehensive Ranking System score by 600, which in practice means an invitation in the next round that includes provincial nominees.

Can I apply to the Yukon Nominee Program myself?
No. The YNP is employer-led: your Yukon employer registers, submits the expression of interest during an intake window, and applies if invited. A worker's role is securing that employer and then signing the tri-partite agreement — and filing the federal PR application within six months of nomination.
What happened to the Yukon Community Pilot?
It concluded on schedule on June 30, 2025 and was not renewed; over its life it nominated 42 people across Dawson, Carmacks, Carcross, Haines Junction, Watson Lake and Whitehorse. The successor community-program concept was also wound down, leaving the core YNP streams as the only routes.
When can employers file in 2026?
Two windows only: January 19–30 and July 6–17, with full applications due March 4 and August 26 at 4:30 pm Yukon time. The territory scores EOIs against its 2026 priorities and invites the highest-ranked; unsuccessful 2025 employers carry bonus points into 2026.
Does Yukon charge an application fee?
No territorial fee is published for YNP nominations — effectively free at the territorial stage, against a 282-nomination annual cap. Employers pay the federal compliance fee after approval, and nominees pay standard federal PR fees.
Does a YNP nomination guarantee permanent residence?
No. Yukon nominates you, but Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) makes the final permanent-residence decision after its own admissibility, medical and security checks.
How does the YNP connect to Express Entry?
If you're nominated through the Express Entry stream, an Express-Entry-aligned stream, you receive 600 additional CRS points, which effectively guarantees an invitation to apply in a following Express Entry round.
What is the YNP scoring system?
